Welcome to My Little Kitchen

OK, well!  Here's to new adventures!  This is a completely bizarre time; we're all trying to figure out how to navigate our normal, without knowing how long it will be this way.  I, for one, plan to do my part to try and maintain social distance for as long as trusted medical experts recommend doing so.

...Not a huge leap for me - I'm an introvert who does a decent job of hiding it, so I feel like I was born for this ;)

Those who don't know me - welcome!  I'm a solo parent of a terrific teenaged boy, and he's a big eater with very few dislikes, when it comes to food.  I love to cook - whether that's a simple breakfast, a gourmet meal with appetizers, or baking - plain or fancy.  I've done catering, I've worked in a deli, and I've been a fan of hosting parties since I can remember.  I've been cooking for two for more than 15 years, and I'm happy to share what I know about cooking with anyone who will listen.  So - pull up a chair, let me get you a cold Coke, and let's get down to it.

First - if you are looking for straight up health food - that is not what you'll find here.  Most of my food I cook with plenty of butter, gluten, and other decadent ingredients.  Everything in moderation, but my moderation skews slightly off center :) You're of course welcome to adjust what I recommend with replacement ingredients where you want to skinny down these dishes - if you do, please comment and share what you learn, as I'm sure others would be glad to have alternative versions.

Cooking is a community effort - what we have learned is almost always passed down from our parents and grandparents, church cookbooks, and family friends.  Jump in with questions or ideas, I'm sure I have plenty to learn from you!

Eat well,
Kari
